Comic book marriages are like comic book deaths - temporary and often used as plot devices. Some classic pairings have lasted, but many are unexpected and doomed to fail. Superheroes struggle to balance partner and world-saving duties, making Marvel relationships and DC romances rare, especially with major characters. However, there are strange exceptions to the rule.

Fate intervenes. When Peter must lead his father's Spartax Empire, Kitty takes over as head of the Guardians and Star-Lord. This strains their relationship, and they choose not to proceed with their cosmic wedding.
