Terminator: Dark Fate ignores the last three films, existing in a separate reality. The movie tries to bring the series to a new future, free from Judgment Day, but still holds on to the past with plenty of Easter eggs. References often call back to the two enjoyable films in the franchise, but also nod to Terminator: Salvation and T:3. With Sarah Connor and another Arnold Schwarzenegger-looking Terminator returning, there are many possibilities for character callbacks and historical allusions. Sarah says she'll be back, while Arnold says he won't - a clear example. Smaller references include the Bible and the franchise's start date. We've compiled a list of our favorite Easter eggs and references for you to explore.

This directly references the police shoot-out scene from the firstTerminatorwhere the Terminator seems to blow apart about 100 cops (though the sequel shows only 17 died), and the climax ofTerminator 2where the T-800 does not try to kill cops. Instead, it fires its chaingun at every police car in the department.

In the first Terminator film, the Terminator's time travel arrival is as smooth as Schwarzenegger's biceps. He lands in a superhero pose and immediately prepares to throw Bill Paxton against a fence and grab his buddy's clothes. Conversely, Kyle Reese appears spit out by a whale. He lands on his side, shivering and barely standing. In the first Terminator film, the Terminator's arrival from time travel is smooth, like Schwarzenegger's biceps. Dark Fate'Dark Fate's first scene does not create new footage for the film. It shows Sarah Connor being interviewed by a psychologist at a psychiatric hospital. This scene comes from the 1991 film.Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
This scene builds how Sarah Connor acts. She fights constantly, fearing an apocalypse. It serves as a reminder thatDark FatefollowsT:2rather than any of the questionableTerminatorfilms that came after it.
