This is from a.A former Redditor.Chew Some Bubblegum: A tip for first-time flyers.

Get a seat next to the window. The view is always great when you fly for the first time.

Chew some bubblegum. Your ears might hurt while landing.

If you can, check in from home first. Then, print your ticket at an airport computer. Bring your suitcase, if it isn't too big, onto the plane. This skips a long wait.

Look out the window. See everything happening outside. This calms me down. If I cannot see outside, my mind wanders. This is one of the most amazing sights. You will regret not seeing it!

Once you are in the air, everything feels 'meh'.

Driving on the highway is statistically more dangerous than flying. You will be fine.

Wear slip-on shoes. Taking them off and on is easier at security. Do not joke with the TSA; they have no sense of humor.

From Redditor u/OhioMegiBring a good book with you.

Get a good book or magazine and aim for a window seat. Follow all TSA rules; security will be easy. Chew gum for take-off. I always buy water after security. Some airlines charge for drinks; you never know what they serve. I also bring snacks.

From Redditor u/OvershadowsPut the phone charger in your carry-on.

Flying is simple; there is nothing to worry about. If you think you need to prepare too much, you build up flying in your head too much. Here are my flying tips:

Watch your clothes. The TSA might ask you to take off coats or jackets. I suggest a light zip-up jacket since planes get cold; it is easier to remove than a pull-over. If you are a woman, not wearing jewelry or carrying metal detectors will speed things up. Agents have even patted down my head because I had hairpins. Some places still require you to remove shoes. Keep that in mind if you bring boots or sandals.

Arrive early. Make sure you have a phone charger in your carry-on. Outlets are often on walls or built into furniture.

Check in and print your boarding pass early if your airline lets you. This saves you time in line.

Get a coffee or a snack after security.

Bring a magazine or book for the plane. If you are really stressed, take a nap.

Breathe. It is not as scary as you think. Believe me.

Pack smart. Skip checking bags to save $30-$40 for your trip. I take one medium suitcase, fitting overhead bins, and my Jansport backpack. Put clothes, accessories, and toiletries in the suitcase. Keep electronics, meds, dry snacks, purse, wallet/ID, and anything needed right away in the backpack.

    From a former Redditor.:

Wear comfy clothes. Use the bathroom before boarding. Chew gum. Bring a book or Kindle. Relax. The window seat lets you lean on the wall without other people bothering you. The aisle works if you use the bathroom often or feel claustrophobic. A puke bag is in the seat ahead, and ask flight attendants for help.

Check in early. Your airline usually offers mobile check-in and boarding passes. Use them! This saves time at the airport. Then, you must go through TSA.
