Description of 'Predicting The Future' in the list '23 People Share Unexplained Phenomena Experiences'KoalaBearz:

In the ninth grade, I sat in English class waiting for the lesson. My teacher always spent ten minutes at the start talking about everything. One day, he started with a story about a friend whose flight canceled due to a plane crash dream. The small plane took off without him and crashed. Next, he shared a story about a robbery at his house years earlier. He said he woke up hearing footsteps. He grabbed his baseball bat, Sharlene, kept by his bed, and shattered the crook's forearm when the robber opened the door. After these stories, the teacher started his lecture. A seagull smacked the classroom window, interrupting him.

The next day, I came to class and sat at my desk. My teacher began his ten-minute talk. He started with the story of his friend who dreamed of a plane crash. Halfway through, I raised my hand. I realized I heard this story before. The teacher must have forgotten he told us already.

As I told him he told us this story, my classmates looked at me. They said, "No, he didn't."

My teacher finished his story and moved to the next one: a robbery at his house a few years ago. I cut him off. I said, "You told us this yesterday! You broke the guy's arm with a baseball bat." Again, my classmates looked at me. One guy told me to shut up. The teacher replied, "Well yeah, I broke the guy's arm with a baseball bat. Did I tell you already?" I told him he told us yesterday and that his bat is named Sharlene. He seemed confused I knew the bat's name. But everyone still denied he told us this. I laughed, thinking I was going crazy.

So I say 'No! Watch! A seagull is going to hit our window within the next two minutes!' Of course nobody believes me and this punk tells me to lay off the crack pipe. The class settles down and my teacher starts his lesson. Five seconds later a seagull hits the window.

    From user Crowmancer:

"My grandfather was a respected Buddhist monk in the southern region of the U.S. When he passed away, dozens upon dozens of monks from around the country came in to pay their respects and every non-married male in my family became temporary monks for a week as a sign of respect. One evening, my uncle, a few of my cousins, and myself were conversing with one of the 'higher' ranked monks and he started talking to my uncle about his life. At first, we were all interested because he was telling my uncle information like the date when he was born, various locations of birthmarks on his body and so on, nothing too crazy, although it was hilarious for the rest of us."

The monk began lecturing my uncle about his actions. My uncle did not take it seriously at first. Then, the monk told the story of how my uncle stole a car in his early twenties. He described flipping it into a ditch and lying to his wife about getting a concussion. My uncle stated he had never told anyone this story. The monk told this to all of us. We had never met this monk. He nailed exact birth dates. I was about sixteen or seventeen; I lacked my uncle's secrets. The monk told everyone where I hid my money, a spot I thought was undiscoverable.

    From a deleted Reddit user:

"When my daughter was about three years old, I had her in bed with me. I was tired and wanted to sleep, but she was still awake. I thought she was safe, so I closed my eyes, half-listening to her talk."

I woke up suddenly when she said, "I don't like that man." I turned to look at her side of the bed and asked, "What man?"

She pointed to an empty spot next to the bed and said, "That man there." It gave me chills, but seeing nothing to do, I turned back and closed my eyes. Five minutes later, she said, "Man's gone now."

A couple of days later, my older daughter ate breakfast in the family room. The three-year-old came out, pointed to the sofa, and asked, "Who's that?"

Her sister looked at the empty sofa and asked, "Who's what?"

"That man there on the sofa," was her reply.

    From user Bigbadbass:

"I worked in a pub in Brighton, UK. It's an old church."

Ghost hunters came to make a video, but they found nothing. Stories existed, but no one saw anything.

I asked my boss about it. He said he sees ghosts often. He was a liar, so I did not believe him. But he said I would not see them until I worked alone in the pub regularly.

Six months later, summer arrived, and I worked full-time setting up the pub. I saw a ghost, a woman in Victorian clothes, walk down the stairs. Days later, I saw a face looking down at me from the balcony.

It is strange, but I did not feel fear. My logic was that if they need people to be comfortable around them before they show up, they cannot be so bad.

    From user Joeeezee:

"I was driving to work. Suddenly, I said, 'Fond du Lac.' I later found that is a place in Wisconsin. This surprised me because I do not usually blurt out obscure place names while driving."

Driving home at 80 mph in the passing lane, I passed a trailer truck. I got halfway up the trailer, and the middle read 'Fond du Lac'. This surprised me so much I hit the brakes to check if I was seeing things. Looking at the truck, something happened in lane 1, and the truck swerved hard into my lane because I had already braked.already I braked. I narrowly avoided being run off the road or crushed by the truck as it entered my lane.

Fond du Lac. That is the true story. No witnesses.

"When I was about 14, friends and I played hide and seek at night with flashlights at our cabin in western New York. Approaching from the west, we saw a V-shaped formation of yellow glowing discs, maybe seven or nine, gliding silently above us toward the east. One friend shone his flashlight up at them. I freaked out, thinking they would descend. After they passed (about 20 to 30 seconds), we ran into the cabin to tell the adults. They said it was probably an airplane. I have seen thousands of airplanes at night; this looked nothing like one."

"Avery good friend of mineis about the most trustworthy, grounded person I have met. He is extremely practical and has above-average intelligence.

He moved into a new apartment, and we met for drinks soon after. During our talk, he calmly said he thinks his new basement pad might be haunted! I asked, 'WTF?' He started telling me about the mischief happening in the bachelor suite.

One battery-powered clock seems to move its hands backward fast, then always returns to the correct time, even after the battery is removed. Also, someone or something seems to line his shoes up—slippers on dress shoes on runners, and so on. This happens only in his basement apartment. He says the shoe thing occurs about twice a day, usually when he leaves for less than two minutes. He brings his shoes into the apartment right next to the living room. The apartment stays locked; his only entry is through his one door.

I think he is messing with me, but he calmly says it has happened every day for about three weeks and invites me over. He claims it is so frequent he named it 'Gertie.' He said the name felt right. He said he felt no fear or worry; Gertie was probably just bored and yanking his chain! He has bigger balls than me, I assure you!

A few weeks passed. One evening, we watched hockey at his new place. We stayed five minutes, stone-cold sober. I forgot what he told me until I saw a clock on the side table. I asked if it was 'the' clock; he confirmed. I asked him about the shoe incident. He asked me to wait a minute; he suddenly felt sick. He ran to the washroom, barely reached it, and vomited violently. I went in to check if he was okay. I physically led the large man to his bed; he passed out right away. We drank only our first beer then.

What next? I thought about calling an ambulance or taking him to the hospital. He seemed fine now; he slept deeply. I blamed bad food, though we ate the same thing earlier. I decided to stay for the night because my family was out; the landlord lived upstairs alone.

I watched the rest of the game. I checked on my friend a few times; he was still out of it. I drank a couple of beers. What happened scared me. I looked at the clock once or twice, seeing nothing but a working clock.

I fell asleep watching TV. I woke up suddenly to a huge bang. I jumped off the couch and checked on my friend. He slept deeper than before, but the banging came from the washroom area. It was a violent, rapid bang, so loud I thought the next house would hear it.

I moved toward the washroom but stopped at the furnace in the walkway. It glowed hot, fireball red—the color only intense things make. The banging came straight from it. This was not just a 'furnace sounds wrong' noise. I lack the words to describe how red and loud it was then. I thought the whole house would blow up.

I ran back to my friend's room. I screamed at him to wake up and shook him hard. We had to leave now! It took a minute until he partially woke. I screamed at full volume and hit him hard. His first words were 'WTF?'. The banging stopped right away.

I tried explaining what happened and took him to the furnace. It looked like it always did, quiet, except for its normal operating sounds. I asked if he was okay; he said he felt great now and asked what happened to him earlier. I quickly explained, made sure he was fine, and he went home. He asked to come with me but insisted on staying. I left fast.

We discussed what happened weeks later. He told me Gertie felt jealous I was there or upset he told me the stories. He lived in that apartment for two or three more years, but I only visited rarely; I never tried to stay another night.

"A friend and I drove home through the mountains. We were in CO taking pictures. It got dark and started raining. We were on a mountain road, and suddenly it looked like we would hit a black Bronco. Its lights were off; we both braced for impact. Then... nothing."

Nothing was there. We both saw it; we could tell the vehicle's make.

    From userBrave_new_world:

"I went to an old university, one full of ghost stories. Part of it was a former women's insane asylum; you could still see shock tubs in the basement of a dorm. Classic scary stories. I ignored it until I visited a friend at night in his dorm with another friend. We talked, and suddenly his door opened and shut. We thought it was a draft, even though the door is heavy and doesn't stay open. We pushed it, made sure it was latched. The guy in the room told us this happens often.

A few minutes later, the door opened and shut again. We all jumped. It kept doing this for several minutes. I almost wet myself, so we all ran from the room to the bathroom. My friend and I went up a floor to the girls' bathroom. When we returned, the room's owner was not back, so we stood in the hall, staring at the door. Nothing happened, so we relaxed. Then, watching, the knob turned, the door opened and slammed shut. We jumped a mile. All year, he had things like the door and his shades flying up for no reason. I wish I had a logical reason, but I do not.

"I was about 9-years-old, and was at an open house with my mom, who was a real-estate agent. This was a huge house; 6,000 sq ft."

My mom turned off the upstairs lights while I waited in the kitchen. I got a glass of water, drank it all, and set it on the counter. Then, I noticed how quiet the house was. I looked at the glass, and it flew across the counter, shattering on the wall. I panicked, yelled 'MOMMY,' ran upstairs, and never stayed in that house after dark again. Some people believe me; others do not. I do not care. I still recall the heavy silence, and the glass breaking made my mind go into overdrive.

    From user staxofmax:

"My then-girlfriend's current wife lived partly at her mother's and partly at her father's. Her mother's house was an old farmhouse, over 100 years old, and both she and her mother had seen strange things there since they moved in. One day, we entered the kitchen, and a liquor bottle flew off the refrigerator and hit my girlfriend in the head. She walked past the refrigerator at least six feet away, so I do not see how simple floor vibration could push it that far sideways.

Other strange things happened too. Sometimes, when my girlfriend had her head by a window, the blinds would fly out and hit her face. A few times, I walked into a room and felt something brush my arm. I looked down; all my arm hair stood up straight, practically vertical. At night, there were huge temperature swings in the bedroom. Sometimes, noises like rapping or footsteps were so bad she had to leave in the middle of the night and stay at her dad's house.

I want a rational explanation for all these things. I haven't been in that house for over ten years. I cannot find anything to explain it. I haven't seen anything like this since then either.

"I came home from school and no one was home. I had a glass of milk and a cookie on the kitchen counter. I set my glass down and started reading the newspaper. Suddenly, my empty glass began sliding very slowly to the counter's edge. It moved about two feet before hitting the edge. Then, the whole jug of milk I left out began sliding across the counter, perpendicular to the cup. I ran out the front door and waited for someone to come home."

"I was about sixteen or seventeen and home alone, watching"Pulp Fiction. Friends called me to hang out, so I went to the closet for a shirt (hot California weather). As I reached in, my big wooden closet door, which was off its rails, slammed toward me. It slid two feet on the carpet. That door is heavy; it pushed sideways. I screamed and ran.

    From user mechtonia:

A teenager saw an abandoned railroad bed through a swamp. The spot looked like a horror movie scene. A story involved a kid with a lantern jumping off a bridge to avoid a train, never seen again. His name was Toby. We drove down the road at night in a pickup, often needing a chainsaw to clear the way. We would turn around and wait. About 25 percent of the time, everyone saw a light like a car approaching. That light was never a car.

About 20 to 30 people saw the ghost many times before the area got logged and access blocked. Several parents saw it too. They saw it move, chased it, and people stood at both ends of the railroad bed trying to figure out what it was. I am an engineer; I do not believe in ghosts. I read all common ghost light explanations for swamps. None match 'Toby'. I still do not know what it could be.

    UserMisterSister:

"Around 3:30 am, I woke up from a terrible noise outside my bedroom door, which opens to a patio. The noise sounded like the largest speaker array you can imagine playing deep synthesizer bass. This sound was freakier. It also oscillated slowly, about four or five seconds."

Initially, I was in a semi-dream state. Realizing it was real and one of the loudest things I had ever heard, I sat bolt upright in bed and listened. It played for a long time. I felt relief not seeing the patio, because if something was there, I would have messed up, and if not, I would still mess up. I was totally confused about its location. Still, I was scared without seeing anything. A light started shining into my room through the covered window, like someone came up the driveway. No car appeared, and my house is isolated; only family cars would drive up that driveway, not random ones.

After ten minutes, the sound got higher, showing the thing moved away. Five minutes later, it vanished. I did not count how much was left. Getting back to sleep took time. I am glad I did not know what happened fully, because I think I could not have slept then.

I know it was real. The first thing I did upon waking was smack my alarm clock with the backlight to see the time, about 3:30 am.

Next morning, while playing ping pong with my younger brother, he said the computer/living room door was open. I knew I had closed it before leaving the night before.

    User submitted.JimmyJaySF.:

I lived in Manhattan and was unemployed; money was getting tight. I napped Saturday afternoon and dreamed my father and I walked a country road, Andy and Opie style. My dad gave me financial advice in the dream, which was strange since he never spoke to me about things like throwing a ball or being a man, much less about money. I woke up hungry. The apartment had no food, so I went downstairs to the bodega across the street to get something to eat.

Walking back to my building, I saw mail dropped on the sidewalk. I quickly picked it up and took it to my apartment, hoping no one saw me take something that was not mine. Back in my apartment, I saw one envelope contained a credit card. It was a Gold American Express Card. I read the letter inside and found out a guy in the city was mailing it to his wife in East Hampton. I started thinking about how easy it would be to shop in Manhattan with this new Amex card. I imagined getting a new suit at Barney’s for an interview, buying a new computer, getting groceries, and escaping my financial problems; Amex would cover the cost.

I had never done anything like this or been in legal trouble, but I was desperate. Then, I recalled the dream from half an hour ago and my father's advice on the country road. He gave me five words in the dream: Leave the credit card alone. I cut up the card and threw it in the trash.

    From a.deleted Reddit user.:

I am a very rational person. This is not a story I tell every day.

I am Cambodian. My uncle is a 'shaman.' I don't know the right word, but he chases and talks to ghosts. He cannot profit from it (long story), so it wasn't his job. But I helped with one of his rituals.

He took an egg, melted wax on the large side of the egg, and glued a small candle on it.

He then placed the small side of the egg on the ground, spoke in Sanskrit, and released it. The egg stayed still, standing, with a candle burning on its head.

He asked questions about a recently deceased relative. I did not listen much while watching the egg. As soon as he finished, he said, 'When the candle burns out, the spirit will leave. Until then, do not touch it.'

I stayed there with my brother and looked. The egg rolled down as soon as the candle went out.

I was twelve. I still don't get it. I don't tell people daily I fear they'll think I'm an idiot.

    user BlueOrange:

"On my last day before moving to Argentina from Washington, DC, I walked into the metro. I passed a blind homeless man who stood in that spot almost every day for a year. I walked right past him and said, 'Sorry, next time.' I knew there would be no next time."

I stopped at the bottom of the first escalator set. I checked my wallet; I saw a $20 bill. I thought, what now? I didn't need it. I turned back up the escalator. As I neared the blind man, I saw a woman walking toward him, right behind me. I put my $20 in his cup. The woman dropped a bill in too.

I went back down the escalators. While waiting for my train, the same woman walked up to me. She asked, 'What made you turn around and put $20 in his cup?'

    'It's his day, I guess.'

She looked at me. She said she did the same thing. She walked past the blind man. She turned around and put $20 in his cup. We did this together without knowing until we dropped the money in his cup.

I cannot explain what happened. It sent chills down my spine. I feel the man really needed that money that day.

"Myfirst American houseThe house was big. It was built in the late 19th century. It housed about six questionable deaths and a cat sacrificed in the dining room. Seriously, a sacrificed cat.

1a- In my bedroom, we placed a ceramic crucifix on the wall. Two minutes later, it broke against the opposite wall, and pieces got stuck in the ceiling.

1b- If you left something on a counter, you had to tape it down with duct tape. Otherwise, you would return to find it had moved to one of the walk-in closets.

1c- We found white cat hair in the dining room constantly. We had no white cats. Once, a large red stain covered the northern wall for over a day.

1d- A dresser from the basement screamed when we burned it.

1e- A young man, who was himself unexplainable in his gifts, spoke to my mother. He told her moving in with my father was best. He said I was born with a much stronger electrical presence than most (Sub-story: After I lost my virginity, we blew out two or three electrical sockets by touch). In some way, I acted like a portal and magnet for whatever or whoever was in that house.

1f- Cold spots, dropping over 20 degrees Celsius, would stay randomly for minutes. During this time, they created an EMP effect, killing all electronics in the area. I lost many Super Nintendo saves because of this.

One night, I woke in a basement room terrified. I had dreamed I was swimming in blood. The next day, a painter hired to fix the first two floors tried to kill himself in that room.

I woke up in the kitchen holding my phone. I asked the person on the other end who it was. The 9/11 operator told me to hold tight; the fire department was coming. Someone had set the basement on fire, far below the kitchen, so I could not smell smoke.

This is disturbing. I woke on the stairs to the basement. For about a month, I felt a strong pull toward the name 'Maria'. Every time I said 'Maria', a cold spot appeared. I used it to move the couch when I wanted to watch TV.

"The day of 9/11"I was sleeping in my bed.I missed class that day. Our middle school, where I was in 7th grade, was brand new and still needed final walkthroughs.

Around 9 am, after the first building hit, my sister woke me. She told me the twin towers were hit. I woke up angry because I had already seen the towers hit, but in my dream, I did not think it was a dream. I went back to sleep.

I finally woke at about 10:30. My family crowded the living room TV. I watched it all happen and realized, 'Oh no, I dreamt this last night.'

"I had a 200-pound, square,"solid dresser tipped over and crashedto the floor at 3 am while I was right next to it.

I lay in bed with the laptop less than two feet away. I saw something move from the corner of my eye. I looked up. Past the LCD glare, I saw the shadowed corner of this huge dresser tipping up. It felt impossible. I just sat there staring, thinking, 'I am not really seeing that. That is not real.'

Time slowed down. This huge, heavy dresser, silhouetted in the hallway light, tipped on its two front legs. It leaned past the center of gravity, swayed out, and then hit the floor with a huge crash. It shook the whole apartment. (I bet the neighbors were happy).

It scared me into a frozen state. I sat there as my boyfriend ran into the room, asking what happened. I could not move or speak. I just looked at him, then turned in bed and fell asleep from fear, something I have not done since childhood.

There was no reason for that. Two people had to move it. I sat right there watching it tip over. It was against an outside wall in a second-floor apartment. That thing moved by itself. Nothing else could have moved it except an earthquake, and there was none.

A coffee container fell off the microwave in that apartment. No one was in the room. The coffee tipped out into a fan across the floor. This event is hard to call unexplained because no one was present. Perhaps it was natural. But that dresser? That was strange.

We drove home from.some kind of playAt my school, I was about 11. Suddenly, a blue-white circle flashed in the sky. It looked like a blue lightning bolt making a circle high above us. My brother and I saw it. He said it could not be an electrical fault in the poles; it was too high. He just called it a firecracker or something, but it was directly above us, about 20 meters. I still do not know what it was.

I talked to my girlfriend (about 14 then). She played with a Ouija board. She told me she spoke with a spirit, a guy who died in a car crash. 'Yeah, yeah,' I said. Then I heard this.swirlingsound over the phone. I asked about it, and she replied, 'The pointer is spinning really fast; it usually means the spirit is angry.' She asked the spirit why he was mad, and he spelled 'BOYFRIEND.' She denied being my boyfriend; apparently, this spirit had a crush on her, which she found out during her talk with him.

I am sitting on my couch, flipping through channels randomly. I tell her I do not see why she plays with silly things. I hear the swirlingsound again. She asks again why the spirit is mad, and she gets the same answer: 'BOYFRIEND.' She tells the spirit again that she is single, followed by the spelling 'LIE.' She asks how he knows. Then she starts reading the letters from the board: 'G, L, O, S, C, O, W.' She asks me what it means, and I reply, 'I do not know.'

I listen to this over the phone. I stopped the channel on Wheel of Fortune. It is the bonus round, and the man is starting to show the answer: 'GLOSCOW.' I sat there staring blankly at the screen, wondering if they watched TV at the same time, trying to figure out how she made that word. My girlfriend lived outside the city then; her family did not have cable TV.

That night, I slept in bed. I rolled over and looked at my closet. I began seeing a bright yellow flashing light, turning on and off. My friends and I used to steal these yellow lights from construction zones near our house. The only way to turn the lights off was to physically remove the lid from the battery enclosure. I had this thing completely disconnected on my shelf, and it started flashing in the dead of night.

I just put the covers over my head and fell asleep. That was the craziest thing that ever happened to me.
