13 Unexpected Anime Couples

This item had the least buildup on the list. They had not interacted before they became a couple.

The couple shows little chemistry. Half their talks involve Karui picking on Choji about his weight. If you did not find him attractive, why did you marry him?

Android 18 kissed Krillin to mess with him. This happened while she still tried to kill Goku. She had no real interest in him; she only agreed after Krillin pursued her for a long time.

She respected his bravery and his choice to save her life. This explains why she eventually chose him, but the story was not expected beforehand.

Armin and Annie knew each other early in the Survey Corps.Armin and Annie have a history in the Survey Corps.They share a history. Yet, the romantic feelings they showed each other appeared suddenly. Armin always treated Annie as a friend, but he showed few signs of romantic feelings. Even while visiting her in her crystallized state, Armin seemed more concerned about her experiences than anything romantic. Annie showed almost no interest in Armin until zero hour.

Their connection is fine. It is sweet and adds needed humanity to the final arc. This was surprising.

This pairing was not just unexpected; it was very disappointing. Sesshomaru met Rin when Rin was a young girl orphaned and traumatized after her parents died. Sesshomaru took on a fatherly role, which contrasted with his usual harsh behavior.

It is rare for a parent/child relationship to become romantic, even in anime with wild plots. Seeing Rin marry Sesshomaru and have his children was surprising. Even marrying a stranger would have been better.

Akame ga Kill!Akame ga Kill! is a fast, action-packed anime about assassinating corrupt political officials and others who worsen the world.

Romance exists; a subplot focuses on Esdeath's obsession with Tatsumi. We did not expect Tatsumi to like Esdeath, nor did we expect him to fall for Mine. They mostly show mild irritation toward each other. They care as comrades, but the romance felt sudden.

Mitsuru is Shigure's editor. Shigure blows deadlines, which drives Mitsuru to despair. Ritsu, the monkey of the Zodiac, wears women's clothes to manage anxiety. He blames himself for every bad thing that happens.

The two share one trait: they both react intensely to stress. This means it doesn't...Ritsu Sohma and Mitsuru from 'Fruits Basket' appear in the list '13 Unexpected Anime Couples'.it does not make sense that they share something. Few people expected a romance plot for these characters. It seemed like this pairing only happened to pair everyone up by the end.

Naru (Molly) developing a crush on Nephrite is not totally unexpected. She is a middle school girl who fixates on a hot guy. What was unexpected was his return of the feeling. He is a villain, but being a villain does not mean falling for a kid as a grown man.

This whole thing happened in just a couple of episodes without warning. It would have been better if it never happened.

The epilogue of 'Digimon' features Yamato and Sora.Digimon Adventure 02 pairs Yamato and Sora.Critics widely criticize Digimon Adventure 02 for making no sense regarding the characters' future jobs and partners. A strange part is that Yamato (Matt) Ishida and Sora Takenouchi get married.

The two have always been close friends who understood each other. The series spends much time showing the mutual attraction between Sora and Taichi (Tai), more so than moments between Sora and Yamato. Miranjo was Daida's father's former companion, King Bosse. She wreaks havoc on their kingdom to bring her dead friend back. Specifically, she revives him in his son's body. Daida isolates himself for months, unable to use his body or speak to anyone.

Despite the torture and pain she caused Daida's loved ones, he forgives Miranjo completely. He decides he wants toDaida and Miranjo from 'Ranking of Kings' marry her.The characters are just as surprised as the audience. This is the case.

Surprising relationships aren't always bad. The first adaptation of Trigun shows this.TrigunMilly and Wolfwood develop a romantic connection unexpectedly. This shows Wolfwood's ability to connect with others. It heightens the tragedy when he dies soon after.

There was little build-up. Neither character showed much interest in the other before the relationship started.

Klancain is in the Orbital Knights and interacts with Princess Asseylum maybe once or twice. She spends much more time with Slaine and Inaho. She states she will marry Klancain while declaring herself royalty. How much say does Klancain actually have?

A series builds friendship between two male characters. Then, it randomly adds romantic tension between one of them and a female character. That happened inSabikui Bisco.

Bisco and Milo's sister Pawoo suddenly became blushy around each other. This appeared from nowhere and used almost nothing. It seemed like a last-ditch effort to stop implying Bisco and Milo could be queer.

Here is a less serious example. InCheer Boys!!An anime about a male cheerleading team. Haruki Bando acts like Chihiro Sakai is flirting with him. The series ends showing Chihiro is not flirting; she is just being friendly. Actually, she has dated Haruki's teammate Koji Tono for a long time.

This surprises the characters and the audience. No indication showed this was happening. Koji is also quite nerdy.
