    From Reddit u/PrinceChastamy:

Around age seven, I woke up in the middle of the night. I thought I heard a loud noise in the house. I walked out of my room and saw the streetlight shine through the window onto the kitchen floor in the hallway. I rubbed my eyes. I saw what looked like my younger brother standing just past the light beam in the shadow.

I walked toward him. Getting closer made it clear this small boy was not my brother. He stood perfectly still, head tilted, staring at me with piercing, dark eyes I will never forget. I ran into my parents' room fast. I slept in their bed that night. I never told them. I tried hard to forget. I almost convinced myself it was my imagination.

Years later, I am a high school senior. I hang with my then-girlfriend, my brother, and some of his friends at our house. Outside, it was dark and storming; our power just died. I lit a candle, placed it in the middle, and we talked on the floor. Someone suggested ghost stories. I thought about my encounter ten years ago.

I said, “Hey, guys. I will tell you something I have never told anyone. I saw something years ago right here in this house. I do not care if you believe me or not. I saw something paranormal right over there in the kitchen.” I pointed toward the kitchen.

Before I could start, my brother interrupted. “Wait a second. Are you serious?” I looked at him, confused by the interruption. He looked into my eyes, his face distressed and turning white. He asked, “Did… Did you happen to see a little boy?” My jaw dropped. Everyone around us immediately panicked. They all grasped they had both seen the same thing. I still get goosebumps thinking about it.

    From Reddit u/wilit:

My sister's best friend lost her father on Christmas Day to a drunk driver in 1994. Her dad was a man with a routine. He returned from work, sat in his recliner to watch TV. Their little terrier, Kayla, sat between his leg and the chair armrest on the left side every time. When people visited and he was home, he was in that chair, Kayla right next to him. A few days after his death, they held the funeral and a reception at the house.

My sister's friend took a Polaroid of the living room during the reception. The recliner sat almost perfectly centered in the frame, and Kayla sat in her usual spot, without her dad. After a few moments for the photo to develop, everyone was shocked to see her dad sitting in the chair. A translucent image of him appeared in the chair, like a superimposed film image. The right side of him showed his glasses, shirt, hand, leg, and foot. The left side was not clear and mostly unseen. The strange part is his left side was badly hurt in the accident.

They thought the film or camera caused the issue. They sent it to Polaroid for a check. Polaroid sent everything back stating no problem with the camera or the film in the cartridge.

    From Reddit u/SalamiMommie:

My girlfriend and I drove back to her parents' house. I was about seventeen or eighteen. We hit a road. She screamed, telling me to swerve. I thought she saw a deer.

I turned my head and saw a woman in white pushing a white bassinet. She held a boy's hand; he wore white. They were not in my rearview mirror.

    From Reddit u/WhyFi:

One night, something settled over my face. At first, I thought it was my bed covers, but then I knew it felt wrong. I reached up, grabbed the cloth, and threw it. I turned to switch on my bedside light and froze. I saw what was there. All my clothes, which were folded in a basket, were now stacked on top of me, from neck to toe. The cloth covering my face was my son's shorts.

I froze, listening for someone in my home. I stayed still for ten minutes. I heard nothing. I stood up and searched. My eight-year-old son was the only other person living with me. I found him asleep in his top bunk. He did not stack the clothes because the bunk was metal and squeaky; he would have made noise getting in or out. He is a serious kid; I have never known him to play tricks. I felt the last piece go over my face; he was not there for that. I searched the whole house. No one was there but us.

I think it was poltergeist activity. Poltergeists often stack things. I also found a random puddle of water in the middle of the living room when no one was home. There was no source for it. Strange stuff.

    From Reddit u/tryst_91:

When I was fifteen, my dad drove to a friend's house for roller hockey practice. My friend lived in a two-story log cabin with a long, winding driveway. This was my first visit. My dad said he thought the friend's parents were not home yet. I told him they were not. He then pointed to a second-story window. "Well, someone is here," he said. I looked up. An older man wearing western clothes and a big cowboy hat was there. This is Texas, so that was normal. I said, "I guess they got home early," and shrugged.

Later, I asked my dad about his parents. He said they would not be home until later. I pointed out that my dad and I saw someone in the house. He became alarmed because no one should have been there. We went inside to check, but we found no one.

After his parents arrived, we were in a back room. I saw a picture of the man who was upstairs. I showed it to my friend. He turned pale and said that was his grandfather who died six years before.

My friend's parents believed the house held multiple spirits.

    From Reddit u/White_Wolf_Dreamer:

Last summer, I helped my boyfriend clean his house. Two or three times, I felt him standing right next to me, though he was across the room. I brushed it off. Then he was taking garbage outside to the dumpster while I swept. I took a step back and felt something brush my back. I said, "Oh, sorry, didn't hear you come back in," turning around and thinking I had bumped into him. Then my boyfriend walked into the front door in the other room.

After that, he told me his whole family experiences things like this often. They believe their house, a huge three-story place about 100 years old, has at least three spirits, and he thinks one is curious.

    From Reddit u/White_Wolf_Dreamer:

My best friend and I volunteered to clean a cemetery after a big storm during my senior year. We walked, talked, picked up branches and debris from the storm, and tidied up things left on graves. We spent the afternoon there. Suddenly, we both froze and looked at the same spot behind us at the same time.

After asking what each heard, we confirmed we both heard a woman's voice say, "SHHH!!" right behind us. It sounded like a librarian catching you talking too loud. We both looked at the exact spot it came from. No one was there. The nearest person was fifty feet away. They would have needed to shout for us to hear them. Curious, my friend looked at the headstone there, then looked at the one beside it.

They found a mother buried next to her infant while they were disturbing the baby.

    From Reddit u/Sir_twitch:

Visiting a friend in Chicago, she warned me that the ghost of the woman who lived there did not like men staying.

I needed to close any door behind me, or she would slam it shut.

First night, I went to pee in the middle of the night and left the bedroom door open. The door slammed so hard it knocked art off the wall.

    From Reddit u/gamepro250:

My grandma, great-grandma, and their dog moved into an old cabin. She told many stories about strange house events: sinks turning on at night, footstep noises in the attic, motion sensor lights turning on when my great-grandma slept with the dog elsewhere.

Crosses were carved above many doorways. My aunt helped paint and covered the crosses. While covering them, they heard noises from another part of the house. The next day, the crosses were back.

My mom's boss's son recently moved into the same house, fifteen years later. She told my mom about her son's haunted house before anyone told her my grandma and great-grandma lived there.

    From Reddit u/BubbleWrapGuy:

My biological dad lives in a creepy, renovated old farmhouse. I helped him build the office late one night. He went to the bathroom; I kept plunking away. I dropped my hammer on the floor. I felt a presence and looked where someone might be. Nothing. I reached for my hammer, but it was five feet away from where I set it down. I had not moved.

He returned after finishing. I told him what happened. He laughed and said, "The little girl must be playing with you." He added that he sometimes hears a little girl laughing and has seen her. She always wears the same overalls and wanders upstairs. I do not believe in ghosts, but I have no other answer than a little girl ghost wanting to play.

    From Reddit u/Fidget171:

My Chow Chow died in December 1999. She was almost fourteen years old.

One evening in the late spring of 2000, I felt an urge to go onto the front porch. A streetlight lit the porch and front of the house across the street. Standing outside, I heard a chuff-chuff-chuffnoise coming from the left and getting closer. This sounded like the sounds my Chow Chow made during a fast walk. The chuff-chuff-chuffThe noise kept coming. I looked up and down the street, the yard, the railings, trying to find the noise source. No one was on the street. No one was in my yard. No one else was outside. I searched, looked, but found nothing. The noise kept coming.

The sound stopped right in front of me. I felt my Chow Chow's sudden presence. I broke into happy tears. I enjoyed her. I thought about how much I loved her and missed her.

I wished she could be with me always. Something inside me argued that having a ghost, even a dog-ghost, with me constantly was not good. So, I told her I loved her. She needed to keep going. We would meet again later.chuff-chuff-chuffThe sound started again. It moved to the right, away from the porch. It lasted a short time, then grew fainter and fainter.

I never heard thechuff-chuff-chuffI never heard it again. But I believe we will meet again someday.

    From Reddit u/noprods_nobastards:

My great-grandma died in '92. My aunt got the phone call that night. The next morning, my three-year-old cousin came out of her room. Sleepily, she said, "Mama, Gramma Rose (the one who just died) visited me last night. She told me her hip doesn't hurt anymore."

    From Reddit u/Nonotcraig:

At age 10, I lay in bed with my back to the door. Suddenly, I felt something standing in my bedroom staring at my back. I had never felt scared in that room before. But in that moment, I knew something was there with me. I froze in sheer terror; I could not move. Only dead silence remained, just me and whatever it was.

After a few minutes, I screamed for my dad. He ran into the room. As soon as he opened the door, he asked, “What WAS that?” One of us will bring it up sometimes. That never happened again.

    From Reddit u/froilan69:

My mother opened a clothing store downtown. The building she and her partner rented was once a popular brothel. It is a beautiful building, but it is very haunted. One night, she closed up, locked the doors, set the alarms, and went home. Around 3 or 4 am, the police called her. They told her someone was in her store. All the lights were on. Endcaps looked turned over, and items were scattered on the floor.

The police said they did not suspect anyone was in the building. The doors remained locked. They also said the scene was extremely unnerving and that she should check things. So, she did. She went to the basement where handbags and merchandise were stored. She found the door, locked with deadbolts, wide open. Hangbags were thrown around, and clothes were scattered everywhere...

    From Reddit u/_always_sunny_:

I worked at a bar that held people waiting for court and sentencing, not a jail. Everyone had stories about the resident ghost, whom we named Sebastian.

The first time I saw Sebastian, I looked down the stairs while opening and saw legs in black pants and smart shoes. The ceiling hid his torso above. I went downstairs to ask how he got in; he ran down the hallway and disappeared. Other staff members mentioned seeing a man in a black suit in the bar after hours while they cleaned. But when they approached or spoke to him, he turned a corner and vanished.

Sometimes after closing, people heard someone ring the bells on staff members' bikes downstairs, or they heard a crash and the bikes moved. Other times, a man in black ducked into the office, and by the time they entered, he was gone. The proof that this was real, not just shared jokes, came with the new chefs. They spoke little English and left after dinner service. So, they never talked about the Sebastian stories. One day, one asked about a man in black leaning on the ordering window while they cleaned.

Sebastian was relaxed. He never scared us or acted mean. I think he just enjoyed hanging out.
