Voldemort Learned About Making Horcruxes At Hogwarts

    From Redditoru/rinabrina:

He mentioned reading about them in a library book when talking to Slughorn but wanted him to explain more because he "didn't understand." This was how he tricked Slughorn into the talk. I want to know how Slughorn knew. It doesn't seem like his area of expertise, frankly.

    From Redditoru/bobbyjames9880:

Books in the restricted library detailed horcrux making. Dumbledore removed them as headmaster, but they stayed when Tom Riddle attended (Dippet was headmaster then). After Dumbledore's funeral, Hermione summoned the books to her room and packed them. 'Secrets of the Darkest Art' gave explicit horcrux instructions. The trio guessed correctly; this book likely gave young Tom Riddle knowledge on Horcruxes before he asked Slughorn for specifics.

Not sure how obscure this is, but "Voldemort" means "flight of death" in French.

Voldemort Was Actually Losing Handily In His Last Duel With Dumbledore

    From Redditoru/Bobby26:

People do not grasp how badly Voldemort lost his duel with Dumbledore. By the end, he accepted his new body would be destroyed and tried to possess Harry as a shield.

Younger Death Eater Recruits Wouldn't Have Known Voldemort's Identity Or That He Was Half-Blood

    From a formerRedditor:

The first Death Eaters knew him because they attended school with him. He or his first followers likely did not tell younger recruits his true identity. He saw Lord Voldemort as his own identity.

But Harry's actions with Bellatrix Lestrange in the books show she knew his true identity and blood status. Her response was to try and attack Harry (this happens in Order of the Phoenix).Order of the Phoenix(omitted)

Dumbledore Didn't Have Enough Evidence To Out Voldemort As Tom Riddle

    From Redditoru/Madzogaz:

Tom Riddle vanished, undergoing dark changes while traveling and associating with dark wizards and creatures. He did not look like Tom Riddle upon his return.

Hindsight gives us 20/20 vision, unlike the characters. After Tom left Hogwarts, Dumbledore suspected his involvement in Myrtle's death. He had no proof. By the time Voldemort returned for the DADA job, Dumbledore only knew dark rumors about him.

Circa 1957 marks his disappearance and transformation from Tom to Voldemort. No one knew the full scope of his actions then.

Reading more, he began his dark plans in 1970.

In 1981, Voldemort's curse rebounds, and he appears defeated.

Shouting Voldemort is Tom Riddle offers no advantage. Albus had a dark history with Grindelwald. Claiming Dumbledore trained him evil on purpose is not a huge leap.

Those who knew and admired Tom probably did not want to believe he was the Dark Lord. Dumbledore kept everything private, just like his mother Kendra did with Arianna. Dumbledore would not talk about the Dark Lord's secrets. His followers might retaliate against public shaming of their leader. Dumbledore still investigates Voldemort. He did not want thousands of Slughorns made who would deny knowledge about Tom Riddle.

Voldemort Couldn't Feel Love Because Of A Love Potion

    From a deleted Reddituser:

A love potion stopped Voldemort from feeling love. This is ironic, and it makes you feel sorry for Voldemort.
