This happened at a 30-year wedding anniversary, not a wedding.

I worked as a waiter at an Inn. They had ballrooms for private parties and bigger events. The bride and groom spent a lot of money. About 100 guests, a five-course meal, an open bar, a full day party. We had to close at 4 AM. It was grand. I waited on the biggest party I had ever seen.

After the main course, the husband stood up and gave a speech. It was long.

He began by talking about how they met. He covered their early life and the hard times they faced. He then spoke at length about loving the children. He told each child how proud he was of them, their character, and their achievements.

This was one of the best speeches I ever heard. It felt sincere. He had great charisma. He spoke clearly and made people laugh.

Then he turned to his wife. He told her he hated her for the last four years of their life. He said she was a toxic narcissist who made him miserable and nearly caused him to commit suicide.

He told her he knew she had a lover. He pointed him out in the crowd, next to his wife and children. He had proof and was filing for divorce, planning to take everything. He gave her the divorce papers immediately.

Then he announced he had gotten his own apartment. Movers had moved his things while they were at the party, and he would leave soon. But everything was already paid for, so they should stay and have fun.

In the stunned silence, he tipped all staff. Dishwashers, bosses, waiters, and busboys each got $200 and left.

Everyone except family left the party within an hour.

I set up a dessert table for a bad non-wedding at my old country club job. As people arrived, they shuffled in. Since the actual marriage ceremony happened then, nothing was fully set up.

The couple vanished. It felt like a funeral, not anything else. People talked quietly among themselves. I found the club's wedding photographer because he likely has details. I found him talking to a bridesmaid.

The couple seemed very Christian and conservative, young (around 19 or 20). The groom went to a prayer camp for gay people as a high schooler after dating his best friend. He returned, met this girl, and they decided to marry.

He ran into his ex-boyfriend two months before the wedding. He missed their friendship, so they started hanging out again. As the wedding got nearer, he asked himself, "What am I doing?"

He starts freaking out, and the night before the wedding goes to this guy's house, realizes he still is gay and wants him. He calls the bride and she refuses to accept that he's not showing. So she goes through the whole mess of getting ready, takes pictures, goes to the venue... and he doesn't show up, like he said he wouldn't.

She loses her damn mind on speaker phone with him at the church where everyone can hear, while he's yelling "I'm gay! I like men! I love him, and my parents can't force me anymore! this isn't about you and you'll thank me in the long run!"

    From Redditor u/sloowhand:

Big wedding, open bar with lots of booze, most of the attendees (including the wedding party) are apparently gussied up white trash. Ceremony itself goes off without any issue. Reception become a big beer and booze soaked party. It then starts to run late so the catering manager tells the father of the bride that they've exceeded their time and they need to start shutting down. This leads to an argument involving several members of the wedding party "Blah blah blah! Do you know how much I paid?! blah blah!" They eventually comply but it stirs the inner white trash.

The party then spills out to the hotel bar where people keep drinking. Members of the wedding party are still stewing about the reception getting shut down and tempers are short. Finally something triggers the groom and he takes a swing at someone. He swings back. Groomsmen start swinging. Now it's a full on donnybrook.

Hotel staff manages to get them out of the bar and the fight spills out the front entrance of the hotel. Police show up and start trying to break things up. The groom at some point takes a swing at a cop and proceeds to get the shit beat out of him.

The bride, who at this point was just standing on the sidelines screaming and talking shit ("Kick his a**, baby!") finally decides "Well, I guess we're doing this," and walks up to a female cop and takes a swing at her. She chose the wrong female cop because this woman was apparently way more yoked than she appeared and takes the bride to the ground, bride's faces hits a planter on the way down and busts her nose. She's now bleeding all over her wedding dress.

By this point the police show up. Several people are handcuffed and loaded up, including the bride and groom.

They're all hauled off to jail.

    From Redditor u/KillionJones:

The groom's father groped both the bride and his daughter, my then girlfriend, multiple times each.

Ended up getting punched out by his son, and locked in a mini-van for a few hours until he sobered up.

    From Redditor u/TheMotorcycleMan:

A big wedding involved about 500 people. The future wife wanted the $70,000 event. I was a groomsman. Before the wedding, he felt extremely nervous. Everyone had to look perfect; this was her dream wedding. Then, whiskey came out. The nerves eased with a few shots, but he finished the bottle. We gave him water, put him in the shower, and got him dressed. Time to go.

Midway through her vows, he vomited all down the front of her dress.

The experience was awful, yet it was good.

They stayed together for eight years.

    From Redditor u/illogicalfuturity:

The bride cared more for a male guest than her new husband. She needed to find her for every event; it took an hour to find her for the cake cutting.

She was caught having relations with the male guest in her and the groom's room.

A fight erupted, splitting the wedding in two. The bride's family opposed her, and they apologized to the groom.

The marriage was annulled, and the bride left with the male guest.

During the pandemic, the bride tried to reconcile with the groom because the male guest was lazy.

    From Redditor u/ThaCrimsonChinn:

About 15 years ago, I went to a coworker's wedding. It happened at the reception at a beautiful outdoor venue overlooking a lake. The groom planned to sing a song to his new wife and launch fireworks as he sang the last note.

The last note played, but the fireworks did not launch. He held that note for ten seconds before yelling, “M****RF****RS!!”, dropping the mic, and running to fight the fireworks operator.

No fists were thrown, but someone ended up in the lake. The party broke up after that.

They divorced about a year later after the groom lost his job for showing his [member] to his boss’s daughter.

    From Redditor u/Shroedy:

She was invited to a friend's friend's wedding because she lacked enough people for a large reception. The bride and groom were very young. They got pregnant three months after hooking up and marrying for bad reasons.

The party started. The whole atmosphere felt forced and strained. Everyone knew the event was fake in some way, so I spent my time outside with the smokers.

We had a good time until screaming came from inside. The bride ran past us in a very Hollywood, teary, and dramatic way.

The cake was not stored right, so it was a little lopsided.

    The bride did not return.

The cake was very nice. The couple divorced nine months later.

    From Redditor u/zelda4444:

My dad owns vintage and veteran cars. When I was younger, he used to do some weddings with them. I liked clearing the confetti from the car when he got home.

One week later, he returned. There was no confetti in the car. On the way to the church, the bride changed her mind. Instead of going to church with her father, they asked him to drop them at the local zoo, her favorite spot.

He did that. He left them there in full wedding clothes. They planned to get a taxi home after they finished.

Mobile phones were scarce then. People likely waited at the church for a long time.

    From Redditor u/UnderwaterWelder19:

The bride gave strict wedding rules through different channels. One rule stated: no social media posts before the bride gave the okay. No posts before her.

A few hours before the ceremony, someone posted something, claiming to be at the wedding. It was just a generic statement. Nothing malicious.

    The bride saw this.

Vows happened in front of the congregation. After the vows, the bride turned to everyone and said, "Please unfriend or delete (Guest Name) on your socials. I gave clear instructions: no socials until I say okay, and (Guest Name) broke that rule today."

Everyone laughed awkwardly, acting like she was joking. Nope.

She then left in a rage. Her new husband followed awkwardly behind her.

A strange mood followed. People made up excuses to leave. They used fake emergencies: "I have to go back because I need to, um, yeah, bye...." Many left early. Nobody wanted to be there or had to talk awkwardly with the Bride.

    From Redditor u/MaestroLogical:

    I am a wedding photographer.

I covered one very fancy wedding a couple of years ago. It was a typical outdoor event at a posh spot far from anywhere.

The location was great. A large concrete staircase ran alongside water fountains leading to the altar. This let everyone see the bride as if she was coming from heaven.

The ceremony starts. The bridal party takes their spots. Then the bride appears with her father. She takes three or four steps down the concrete steps. Her shoe twists. She falls down twelve feet or more. She breaks most of her front teeth from the fall. Blood covered her.

Because the location was isolated, the ambulance took forty minutes to arrive. She felt intense pain. She got an email weeks later with the new date. This time, there were no stairs visible.

    From Redditor u/PleasantSalad:

The bride's father arrived forty-five minutes late to walk his daughter down the aisle.

While waiting, the venue's air conditioning failed. Outside, it was over 100 degrees and humid. The venue was packed. People bumped into each other constantly. The heat made things extra miserable.

The air conditioning issue likely spoiled the food. Only salad, spaghetti, and rolls remained on the buffet. That did not feed half the guests.

Most people left after the first dance. Two bride's aunts fainted.

The bride and the wedding planner cried.

My mother played the church organ and attended many weddings.

The story that stands out involves the bride. When asked, "Do you take this man?" she broke down, said, "No, I can't - I don't love him," and ran from the church.

The town was small. People learned she had met someone new and fell deeply in love with him.

A friend of my girlfriend got married. They married in the local church, then the party happened at a nice restaurant. The photographer asked the bride and her bridesmaids (my girlfriend was one) to go outside for pictures.

Minutes later, a bridesmaid returned asking for help. Swans attacked the photographer, and most people laughed at the man running around and screaming.

    From Redditor u/Maggiemaccy

A fight started between the bride's father, brother, and a guy staying at the hotel. I do not know how much of a "fight" it was; it was more like the dad and brother attacked a man. They were both arrested.

The bride sobbed at breakfast. Her dad and brother spent her wedding evening in jail and now face assault charges.
