I worked at a gym daycare first. It was a good job.

You can drop your child off for two hours maximum. We kept that rule relaxed. Few people broke it, and if they did, it was not a big issue.

Then this mom arrived. She dropped her baby off and left the gym. She stayed four hours sometimes, forcing us to call the manager. Her husband showed up seeking her. His baby was there, but not his wife. She was cheating, and I saw the confrontation happen.

I only wanted to care for the kids and babies. Somehow, I got involved in a love affair.

I worked at a gym for years. I worked late high school through college. I saw everything. The gym provided shampoo and body wash. They refilled daily. People started putting their feces in the shampoo bottles. It was gross. One evening, I worked the front counter with two others while the janitor was around. It was a slow night. A man entered with items. He scanned in, grabbed some small and large towels. As he turned a corner, the janitor and I saw something fall. He kicked it away and rushed to the men's locker room. I asked what it was. Nat, the janitor yelled, "I KNOW WHAT IT IS! IT'S SH*T! THAT IS SH*T!!!"

It was feces. He got kicked out.

I did not see the event. I saw the video because my boy was the gym security.

A woman was working out and went to get something. A guy ran over and either licked her or put his face on the seat she occupied. She saw it and reported him. My friend had to escort him out after he argued about why. My boy said he knew what he did to that woman's equipment. He was banned from all major city gyms. The same security company manages most gyms in the city.

    From Redditor u/Rhinosaur24:

I used to go to a gym. Looking back, it was entirely a hookup spot for older, closeted gay men. I was young and naive. I thought all gyms had older men who were fine with nudity. But as I started using other gyms, I saw I was wrong. Every day, I saw at least five men over fifty hanging around in the locker room, doing nothing. I only went in and out for the bathroom, so I assumed they were changing.

At the gym, an older Asian woman showed up fully dressed in a $200+ outfit, hair and makeup ready for a night out. She sat on a machine and did no exercise. This happened in the early 2000s; she lacked a phone and was not an influencer. I think about her constantly, wondering what her purpose was. She arrived alone, not with anyone, so she wasn't cheering for her husband. She just sat and did nothing. I thought she sought attention, but she did not know the gym held many older gay men who likely ignored her (or perhaps her husband stayed in the showers constantly, which is why I never saw him).

A friend I used to work out with at that gym reached the same conclusion about it being a hot spot for older gay men.

    From Redditor u/WickedPizt:

An older gentleman, late 60s, ESL, from the Philippines, very thin, approached me. He spoke in broken English, asking if he could watch me work out. I agreed. He followed me through every exercise, taking notes, smiling, and thanking me after each set. After my workout, he asked what days and times I went to the gym. Things got stranger then. I told him the truth.

The next day, he performed the exact workout I did before. He said hello and asked to watch me again. He did this for several days. He seemed unsure how to work out or ask for help, so he used my routine. I felt creeped out at first. That man still goes to the gym today and always greets me. He even has my old headphones now and always has a big smile. These are the weirdest but most sincere compliments I have received at the gym.

    From Redditor u/RaoulDukex:

An older man sometimes performs an interpretive dance with the elliptical machine. He does not use it normally. He hops on one side, pumps a few times, hops off, and pushes a few rotations with his hand. He hops on backward, hops off, and dances. He repeats this for about 30 minutes, using the machine in every way except its intended use.

I have not seen him use another machine; he just paces. I saw him in the parking lot once. He was parked at a strange angle toward a planter bed, not a parking space.

That guy marches to his own beat.

    From Redditor u/M13Calvin:

A person at my gym shows up fully covered. She wears spandex on her legs, shoes, and gloves, plus a big sweatshirt with the hood up. She wears sunglasses that cover her face and a face mask. She uses the bench press to do step-up exercises with three or four sets of dumbbells or barbells simultaneously. She uses all this gear so no one else can use it. Sometimes I see her swing a cable in a strange move or walk backward on the stair master. I have never seen her show more than a small bit of skin, even in summer.

    From Redditor u/snuggleswithdemons:

I worked as a pool lifeguard at a health club in the '90s; it was a wild place.

First, an old Chinese lady always shaved her legs in the steam room. The manager told me I had to tell her she could not do that anymore. This lady went feral on my 17-year-old.

Second, the water aerobics instructor taught classes after I closed the pool. Before I closed, I always tested the chlorine and PH levels and added chlorine before leaving. While I did my job, this old angry lady screamed, "You will NOT add those chemicals while my ladies are in this pool!" Enjoy swimming in piss and shit.

A little kid took a dump in the pool and pretended not to speak English when I told him to get out. I had to clear the pool, fish out a turd, then add heavy chemicals to sanitize the water. The kid's dad said or did nothing.

Our health club made the news because a member was caught filming men in the locker room. He brought a hidden camcorder in a duffel poking out of it in the locker room. He went to the hot tub for an hour, then returned to the locker room and left. When they arrested him, he apparently had about 800 hours of footage from the locker room showing people of all ages undressing.

I made $6.25 per hour at that job.

The sushi master. This large older homeless man slept on a bench and snored loudly. When I passed him, he woke up and offered to move the bench if I needed it. He would randomly pull out sushi and eat it between sets on the bench press.

    From Redditor u/desertsail912:

I took a weight lifting class in college. My class overlapped with this guy's workout. He arrived wearing dark sunglasses. He performed many sets of the only exercise I saw him do: barbell lunges. He loaded up what seemed like 150-200 lbs and did three sets of ten lunges before leaving. We wondered why he wore dark glasses; this gym was built in the '40s and lacked good lighting.

He entered without sunglasses. Everyone stared. We figured out why: as soon as he lunged, his eyes popped out two centimeters from their sockets. This looked like a scene inTotal RecallArnold first gets tossed into the Mars landscape without oxygen. That was highly disturbing.

    From Redditor u/LongjumpingBranch381:

I have been a gym-goer for 30 years. I have seen many strange things, but a few weeks ago I saw the strangest. I went to the urinal. A younger man passed behind me from the stalls. He was naked—no shoes near the restroom. That is not the strange part. As I washed my hands, he stood there, focused, holding a member and taking selfies in front of the mirror. I looked at him—no eye contact, of course—and asked, "What the hell is wrong with you, man!?"

Info went to the manager. Several people had complained about him doing the same thing that day. The gym now bans him.

I saw an older guy from the 70s at the gym. He worked out in jeans and penny loafers. Then, this legend put 5 lbs on the cable pull-down machine and shadow boxed for ten minutes. I got excited when he walked in; I knew he was putting on a show.

    From Redditor u/Iamyous3f:

I did not see someone do anything strange. I will tell you something strange I did myself with my friends.

I was in a hotel in Denver, Colorado for a medical trip with my family. I met some boys my age with similar interests. About ten teenagers were in the group. The hotel was small but clean. The gym stayed empty. Once, a friend suggested I take my PlayStation to the gym and playFIFA 15I think or14. We could not fit in one room, so the gym sounded like a nice place.

We had fun the first night. We bought soda from the nearby grocery store and playedFIFA. No one noticed anything. We repeated the action for two more days. On the weekend, one friend suggested a tournament. Two guys did not play, so eight of us played. In the final match, a couple walked in, and everyone just stared at each other, confused. The couple told us to stay and have fun, left the room, and we felt bad. We rushed to them, told them we would move our stuff, and they could work out now.

One day later, we received a warning not to do that again in the gym.
