The list of undesirable Halloween treats is predictable, including toothbrushes, raisins, apples, and Good & Plenty. However, some treats are just plain weird, such as onions, ranch salad dressing, and milk. Even non-food items like staplers have been given out, leaving people to wonder if they were tricked instead of treated. Reddit users have shared their own bizarre Halloween treat stories, sparking confusion and amusement.

From Redditor /u/Secretly_psycho:
A tooth.
He wasn't a dentist; he was just some random guy handing out a tooth.

From a former Redditor:
Cooked chicken wings.
One of our neighbor's sons handed them out to kids from a huge bowl on his porch.

We went to a sh*ttier neighborhood in town.
No one seemed to realize it was Halloween, so we got cans of pop and a can of soup.

About three or four years ago, my son got a Ronald McDonald cassette tape.
He had no idea what it was.

A girl I went to high school with posts every year that she hands out little mini Constitution scrolls.
Those poor kids in her neighborhood.

From Redditor /u/projectedwinner:
My dad drove my brother and me around our small town to people's houses. One old lady took bananas every Halloween, cut them in half with peels on, and wrapped each half with Saran Wrap secured by a rubber band. The cut end always browned before trick-or-treating started, and the bananas were always overripe.
The plastic wrap sometimes came off, and the banana slime touched the candy, making some taste vaguely banana-y and stale. This was always the worst thing in my candy bucket every year, worse than the toothbrush and tiny box of raisins.

This happened around the time they started telling parents to check trick-or-treat bags.
Crackheads lived in my apartment complex. My dad still took me to their doors when I was a kid. One year, around age 11, one of them had a huge bowl of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. This is my favorite candy, so I thought I hit the jackpot. The guy reached into the bowl and gave me six or seven. I left on my way.
When we got home, my parents checked my candy. They found all the Reese's were gone. This guy ate the candy, put the cardboard things and paper cups back in the wrappers, and glued it shut to look full. I felt very disappointed.

A guy in my neighborhood ran for mayor every election. He handed out magnets saying, "Vote Murphy!" and nothing else. We could not vote; everyone I knew threw them out.
Even if kids could vote, no one would vote for him because he never gave out candy. Also, he never won.

A packet of ranch salad dressing. It is like the free packets you get when you buy a salad at the grocery store deli.

Last year, I went trick-or-treating with my neighbor's little brother and his mom. One woman, dressed as an angel with a tiny harp, did not give out candy. She had you sit on a bench across from her while she played what she called your "soul song." She admitted she could not play the harp but plucked strings she felt naturally connected to you.
This was my creepiest and weirdest Halloween experience. The woman clearly did not try to scare anyone.

Bouillon cubes. They are individual and wrapped in plastic. I thought they were caramel or something.
I bit into one and spit it out. I would not recommend it.

A mini muffin pan with five pennies in each slot.
I got five pennies floating in my candy bag every year.

Two small cartons of white and chocolate milk.
A lady who worked at a cafeteria would bring the milk that was about to expire home with her.

I had tissues and a bottle of hand sanitizer when I was eight years old.
