Love can be weird. Reddit users are sharing their strangest habits with their significant others - the kinds of things that will make you go "aw" and "ew" at the same time.

From Redditor u/alternativenarrative:
We play Surprise Bum. The game is simple. To win, you must catch the other off guard with your naked a**.
I sit on the sofa reading. He yells, 'Hey, have you seen my keys?' I turn to answer him. BAM—there he is, back to me, hands on hips, pants around his ankles, yelling, 'SURPRISE BUM!'

From Redditor u/Danz322:
[Phallic] drawings. We hide the same [phallic] drawing for the other to find. She put it in my suitcase during a hunting trip. I had to explain the crudely drawn wang on notebook paper packed with my socks. When I returned, I hid in the bottom of her underwear drawer. It took her months to find it. She hid it somewhere; I still have not found it. That was five years ago. She said I would find it eventually, but I fear where it is. I told her if she dies before me, she will be buried with it, and I win.

From Redditor u/joeyboii23:
My girlfriend and I started using very random, complex pet names when we answer each other's calls. Sometimes I forget and answer loudly in public with, 'Hello, my Persian tropical icecream sweety watermelon minx,' or something like that. It changes constantly.

From Redditor u/Banana_Turtle_:
Probably 'kissy sonar'.
I am an extroverted woman. I need my existence acknowledged sometimes. My wife is very introverted; constant talking is a big no-no. We make kissing noises around the house sometimes. This is like, “I love you, everything’s fine over here—you okay?” We give a kissy back and keep doing our own thing quietly. If we don't kiss back, we try a louder noise. We wait five seconds, then we leave to check if everything is okay.
Everyone gets what they want. I feel like I get attention. She is not burdened by talking or doing things with me, but we stay connected.
Edit: Forgetting I am with different people and making kissy noises at my boss or friends during quiet times is a downside. My boss did the kissy sonar back without thinking and made a 'wtf did I just do' face. We now joke about it.

From Redditor u/ThirdFloorNorth:
I wrapped her in a brown blanket, rolled her back and forth in bed, and told her, 'Shhhhh be bread, it's okay, just be bread, shhhh, loaf-girlfriend, it's okay to become bread.' She cackled and screamed, 'I DON'T WANT TO BE BREAD.'

From Redditor u/stooney:
Whistles began as a simple signal. Now, they form a whole second language. 'Hello' uses a high tone whistle, followed by a lower tone whistle. You reply with a higher pitch sequence or a lower pitch sequence.
'Warning:danger or distress' uses three high-pitched whistles. A sad whistle starts high then drops to a low tone.
We had phone talks where we whistled at each other and laughed for ten minutes. We thought we were crazy, but then we saw cultures whistle poetry. Whistling might have been how people first talked.
Edit: this blew up. Calling it R2D2 language, like some of you do, is hilariously accurate.
162 - 7
From Redditor u/MonocromeRainbow:
I have a 'Kiss Monster' (spoiler: it's me with a blanket over my head). This monster visits my SO, gives him many kisses, then slips off into the night.
We never admitted I am the Kiss Monster.
155 - 8
From Redditor u/emt1986:
He must touch my butt at least once every Walmart trip. I cannot recall how this began, but it feels totally weird if we forget.
Floor Dollar. A dollar bill fell from a pocket into the washer crack when I moved clothes. We ignored it for a year because we were too lazy to find it. Then one of us acknowledged it. We kept it as a symbol of wealth; we never went below our last dollar. It now has a quarter for a friend.
138 - 9
From Redditor u/vinoKwine:
I dated a Swede for a few years. When he taught me 'I Love You' in Swedish, Jag Älskar Dig, I learned to say it by saying Jog Racecar Day. For our relationship, we just said 'Racecar' for 'love you' or when giving cards.
136 - 10
From Redditor u/undergroundramen:
We create detailed stories about our cats' lives.
“Where’s Big Cat?”
“Oh, she’s in Taipei today consulting with the Ukrainian Ambassador about the silver industry. She returns later because tomorrow she charters to Mars at 0600.”
134 - 11
From Redditor u/octopusboots:
We spend seventeen years secretly pinning a clothespin to someone's clothes. Sometimes, no clothespin for months, then bam. It lands in your armpit.
130 - 13
From Redditor u/omfgchella:
In the shower, he covers his body with soap. He wraps his arms around me. Then, he moves up and down fast, rubbing the soap all over me and washing me off. We call this "Carl wash" because it is like a car wash for me; my nickname is Carl, and he washes me off.
109 - 14
From Redditor u/HappyKlutz:
We have a thing called “squishy face”. After we kiss goodnight, we smoosh our cheeks together making a “murrrrr” sound. It is weird, but we must do it; not doing it feels like bad Juju.
We also have family cuddles with our cat. Hubs holds the cat upside down like a baby while I cuddle them both, and we tell the cat how beautiful he is.
105 - 15
From Redditor u/illithfair4:
We hoot like owls at each other and call each other 'hooter' as pet names. This started soon after we got together, and neither of us recalls how. We sit in silence, each doing their own thing, and one person says "hoot!" into the quiet, and the other replies with a hoot. It is like saying, "Doing good? Me too. Love you."
101 - 16
From Redditor u/Choccy_Nanoodly:
We stand three feet apart and do Street Fighter idle animations for minutes at each other.
84 - 17
From Redditor u/Toasterinthetub22:
We invented rock, paper, scissors with kissing!
Mouth closed equals Rock.
Mouth open equals Paper.
Tongue sticking out equals Scissors.
We started doing this randomly so we could surprise each other and win!
79 - 18
From Redditor u/lululemonkush:
Sometimes he covers my nose with his mouth and blows, making me make a horrible, monstrous sound as air rushes through my nose and out of my mouth. We call this The Exorcism.
It is gross and weird, but I like that we can be gross and weird together.
49 - 19
From Redditor u/FunkySauron:
We sneak up on each other and bite the neck to show "dominance". We use this dominance to win small arguments, like deciding which animal our pets like more.
48 - 20
From Redditor u/ask-design-reddit:
We do 'inverted kissing'. Instead of kissing lips, one person surprises the other by opening their mouth wide and covering the other's puckered lips.
This feels like kissing the void. It feels really uncomfortable and is hilarious. She always does this to me when I expect a kiss.
Bonus points if you can kiss the void for over 5 seconds or keep your mouth over theirs for a long time. I found this when I opened my mouth during a kiss, and she started laughing and saying 'noooo.'
46 - 21
From Redditor u/wxnderless:
We puff out our bellies until they touch so the "babies" can talk to each other. I am not pregnant, and he is not pregnant.
45 - 22
From Redditor u/chronically_varelse:
We "steal yawns" by sticking fingers in the other's mouth and touching the tongue when they yawn. We also do this to my pets.
45 - 23
From Redditor u/CopperMeerkat20:
Armpit trust is the number one rule that cannot be broken, no matter how tempting it is; you cannot poke the other’s armpit.
42 - 24
From Redditor u/Dicktremain:
We make each other get goosebumps.
If one person gets goosebumps on their skin, the other runs their hands over it, 'collecting' them.
37 - 25
Redditor u/Raaqu:
We wrestle for fun. It is not a sexy way or letting the cute person win; it is real competition.
33 - 26
Redditor u/NoLifeKing_RL:
Over time, we made a thing called lizard tongue. Sometimes, maybe once every few months or a year, one person suddenly tongue-punches the other's mouth and pulls their tongue back. This starts a slap bet where the tonguer knows they will get a counter-tongue-punch, but they don't know when.
19 - 27
Redditor u/ninjakaji:
We open our mouths and press our lips together. We sing a pitch, raising and lowering it slightly together, which makes a strange vibrating clash in the notes.
9 - 28
Redditor u/Leperchaun913:
We play a game. We try to quickly put a finger in the other person's nose, then their mouth. There is much grappling, sneaking, flirting, and trickery. This makes kissing a risky job. You never know when a 'feed you your own boogers' attack will come.
