I found this 1937 Gibson, a similar offbrand to the Kalamazoo KG-11, at an estate sale years ago. It moved through the Europe theater during WWll. Norman Byerly of the 1st armored division owned it. It features carvings of places and dates. The WWll war museum currently loans it. This was a stunning find.

They added the following when asked for more info. The following were added.:

The story I heard is Norman kept the guitar the whole time. Weeks before the war ended, Norman died on the Rhine River. His best friend took the guitar and gave it to his brother, who was also serving in the European theater. His brother brought it home, and it sat under a bed for decades. I bought it at his brother's family estate sale. Since no one else played guitar, no one knew what they had. I wanted to show it because I loved the story, and I think the history of the soldiers who fought and died for our country needs sharing.

The Ardennes saw major battles in both World Wars. Redditor u/rkloost shared this collection of ammunition.who notes:

I went to the Ardennes with my uncle as a kid, using a metal detector. Later, we learned searching the Ardennes with a metal detector is illegal. So I won't push that, even though I loved finding this stuff as a kid and still find it interesting. Just a warning.
