We're in the Golden Age of superhero cinema. Gone are the days of Adam West and Burt Ward in ill-fitting pajamas, climbing fake buildings. Now, Disney produces multi-million-dollar Avengers films that bring in billions. The era of superhero films really began with 1978's Superman: The Movie, starring Christopher Reeve, Gene Hackman, and Academy Award-winner Marlon Brando. These actors brought legitimacy to the film, a standard that later franchises aimed to match. Today, every superhero film features A-listers.
