Baby Groot stole our hearts in 2017's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and his performance made director James Gunn look like a genius for de-aging the character. De-aging is nothing new in comics, though. It's a classic sci-fi trope that's been used frequently. Most de-aged characters return to their normal age, but some stay young, getting a second lease on life. Baby Groot's future is uncertain, but he has plenty of comic book history to draw from.
